Rewiring a single wire in Minipac harness
« on: December 29, 2018, 04:05:19 pm »
Hello everyone, I just finished building an arcade controller with the Minipac. I am using the harness on the right for a single 4-way joystick + 9 buttons (6 action buttons, 1 coin and 1p / 2p start) and the one on the left for a spinner. Unfortunately the right harness has a dead wire and it's the wire for 1P Left (very top left of the harness). I was able to use a different wire (2P L) instead and I can remap buttons in MAME so it works the same, but it's pretty annoying for a keyboard encoder that should just work out of the box for most buttons. I am wondering if I could manually repair the single cable for 1P Left. Is it as simple as pulling out that wire and sacrificing another wire from the harness in its place? Or do I need some special tools?
