How difficult is it to get the Galaga black finish.

I'm looking to build a multicade and will be doing the class of 81 style. I am wondering how difficult is it to get the smooth semi gloss black finish that the cabs had back then?

From my understanding I should use primer, paint, then clear.

   Depends a lot on what it is your painting, and how you paint it.... Galaga wasn't cleared however, (I think that was a lacquer).

I think you are correct. That is definitely not a clear coat on mine, and it’s factory.
