Just as over top in 80s pastiche but not as over the top in the acting. Takes itself more seriously while remaining true to the synth-love/buckets-of-blood/dumpster-prop/ultra-violence of classic 80s gore flicks. The 90 odd minute runtime doesn't feel overlong, no real surprises in the plot (such as it is), but it had me smiling in the first two minutes and I really kept the smile up through the whole thing.
Is it "good?" No. Of course not, don't be silly. But it is enjoyable and will maybe help us all remember that movies don't always have to be high art and perfectly executed to be fun. A film like this helps me remember to sit back and enjoy the ride. Leia-Poppins seems a bit less shark-jumpy/fridge-nukey after this, or maybe she is exactly the right amount of that if you're just there for the fun. This flick sure is.
On Netflix FYI
