Long story short: Should I upgrade/replace board in this or replace with RaspberryPi that I already have loaded with games? I have GPIO connected small home-built box w/ joysick/buttons now. Could transfer over.
I was given a 2005 Golden Teen Fore that "wasn't working." Upon getting it home it took some reading (and searching this site) to get booting so that I could see something on the screen as the 9-pin Molex were swapped. I was worried it fried the board but it still booted.
It finally booted to "Checking Filesystems..." and most of the time rebooted right after that.
I let it run about 15 min and a couple times it got to "Loading Game" but never went further.
Talked to a guy who said the 1.06 U15 should be upgraded and it just needed a new HDD.
Ordered both and before installing I booted it up again because a few times it wouldn't boot unless I had the motherboard/button/trackball cabinet slid all the way in.
No boot what so ever, nothing on screen. Swapped U15/HDD and same result.
Checked all connections but no change.
Checked all chips and noticed a couple pins that didn't look all the way down on large chip next to U15. Touched pins with x-acto knife and they slide back. Touched others and they didn't move. The pins not connected are 138 and 139.
I can solder, but not sure to these little pins, and I have no idea where they go.
