Volume echo on all games
« on: October 28, 2017, 04:22:27 pm »
I'm using Mame64 or mameuifx32.

I have 4 gb ram, on a AMD Athlon dual core processor, 5000+ 2.6 GHz running Windows 10 and just the onboard audio card

I have my audio settings at 11000 and 5/5.  If I set them any higher the problem gets worse.

The sound echo's on every game.  Think of a public address announcer. :)

And the video is a little slow too but works at least.

Is my computer just weak sauce?  or is there something else I can try?

Thanks!
Gary

Not sure if this will help, but I recently had a bit of the same issue, the sound just seemed a bit off.  Turns out I was using the TV speakers on my display panel AND the speakers built into my arcade cab.  Turned the TV speakers off and now it sounds GREAT!   ;D

It's not a very good PC (AMD and many generations behind) but it should run some stuff.

If the video is slow the sound will echo, that is expected, because it isn't running at full speed.

Probably just need to install DirectX9 properly, and the video drivers for your card / onboard chipset.

I'd also check your audio driver isn't set to using some weird 'sound scheme', like 'festival' or some such.

I have echo in all of my street fighter games... nothing else... crazy right?  :banghead:

go to your sound panel in windows, make sure the right output is set to default and disable everything else.

Ok, I did some more testing.

The sound does not stutter when I play youtube videos or fox sports or espn sports and the video is just fine as well.

Only in game.

Hmmm, I'm bewildered.

UPDATE:

I went into the mame settings "advanced" and changed frame skipping to "automatic" and all games work now except Golden Tee Fore 2006.  But I realize that's a drag on the pc so I understand.
