Hey guys

Forgive my lack of knowledge here. Read so much I've got a headache and not any closer to an answer. Set up my system this morning as follows; Windows 7 x64, AMD 7700 graphics, CRT Emudriver 2.0 beta 10, Groovymame 0.189. Using a Hantarex MTC9000 monitor with the 9110 option in VMMAKER

I used the super resolution guide and got everything working, but some games have a squashed picture and I can't figure out why. Notable examples are Terminator 2 Judgment Day, and Mortal Kombat 2. I also noticed some vertical games (Pac-Man) displayed very small, not using all the vertical space as though there were borders again.

Attached are verbose logs for a game that displays properly (Fantasy Zone), and one that doesn't (Terminator 2) along with an image of the squashed picture in MK2

Any advice much appreciated!!

Launch Arcade OSD and try 2560x256, let me know if it looks right.

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Anyway, both games are running at the wrong resolution, check this line:

Direct3D: Device created at 640x480

For some reason Direct3D is initialized at the desktop resolution. Can you think of any software that could be messing with video, e.g. some remote desktop app or something?

Good catch I didn't spot that, I don't have any software installed except for 7zip and firefox. The only remote software I have is Microsoft's Remote Desktop enabled

Unfortunately I've done a full uninstall (using the setup.exe, followed by display driver uninstaller) and reinstall of the drivers and still having the same problem, in the verbose log Direct3D Device is still created at 640 x 480  ???

Something else I struggled with is the d3d9ex version of groovymame didn't work, so I switched to using the regular version instead. Perhaps that has something to do with it? The error message I get with the d3d9ex version says: Unable to create the Direct3D device (8876086C)

Many thanks for your reply & assistance

Fixed! I had unpacked groovymame into my old mameui64 directory, and even though I removed all of the .ini files (thinking there would be conflicts), it turned out to be that causing the problem

I moved groovymame into a new folder only keeping the hiscore.dat and mame.ini/plugin.ini and the d3d9ex version worked fine, and switching res. Looks beautiful. Thanks calamity for your hard work and sticking around to help people out  ;D
