I recently bought a CRT TV (Sony KV-29CL11K) and, in combination with GroovyMame, the image quality is gorgeous!! I can say that it is the best image quality I have ever experienced in my life! This might be because it's a brand new TV - it was used for only 4300 hours.
However, I am facing the following issue with it:
I bought it to play MAME games on it, games that require different resolutions (GroovyMame + VMMaker), thus I would like to know how it would be possible to adjust the TV geometry for each game in particular. Is it possible to do so, to adjust the H-Size, H-Center, V-Size, V-Center, from the service mode for each particular resolution needed by games?
I am asking because, for example MK1 runs at 2560 x 256p, and the image height exceeds the screen, as you can see in the attached pictures (including MK2).
Definitely, for this particular resolution, the V-Size and the V-Center ought to be adjusted but this should be possible only from the service mode. Using Arcade Osd does not help because, as it's known, the Vertical cannot be adjusted.
In this model's manual (KV-29CL11K), I found that, to get into the service mode, one needs to do the following steps:
1. Turn on the main power switch and enter into the stand-by mode.
2. Press the following sequence of buttons on the Remote Commander
What's unclear to me from these steps, is, whether the TV restarts in the last channel mode it was in or not - for my case, in the AV mode and so to be able to adjust the geometry only for that particular game that is running on the connected device (PC with UMSA scart).
Note: I should mention that I don't have the TV at home yet, thus, for the moment I cannot do any tests on it. However, I'll pick it up during this weekend, hence, I would very much appreciate to be prepared before doing any (stupid) adjustments.
I do hope that somebody will be able to shed some light on this.
Thank you!
