Raspberry pi 3 GPIO power to LED Lightstick

Hi everyone,

has anyone ever powered an LED Light stick with the GPIO pins of a Raspberry pi 3, I heard is possible but didn't want to try before asking, is the only pi I have right now, don't want to burn it or something. I'm trying to use  a Light Stick to light up the Marquee graphic. attached is a picture of the Light Stick I'm using. it has a Molex connector at the end.

1. How much current does the Light Stick draw?
(remmber to measure current with your multimeter in series, not parallel)

2. How much current can the GPIO pins provide?

Using 12V (yellow/black molex wires), the answer to #1 is probably much larger than #2.   

3. Will it light using 5v? (red/black molex wires)

4. How much current does it draw using 5v?

Even using 5v to power the light stick, the current draw is likely to be too high, but you might as well check since you already bought it.

I appreciate the input, too much technical/electrical details for my brain cells. I decided to go the easy way and used a power supply with the molex connector ( I had one laying around ) I spliced the LED buttons cable with the Marquee LED light wires, plugged it in a voila. Thanks again for your time.
