I use Haxchi's sysmenu option for signature/region patching, and sometimes I use it for direct homebrew launching. I think it's pretty simple. Buy and download a compatible game while there's no USB drive attached, add the Haxchi installer (I use v2.5) to your SD, change the ini file so default=sysmenu, run the install from Homebrew Launcher.
Then, if you want to use something that's fake signed, it's one click, wait for the Wii U Menu to reload, and play.
If you're not interested in fake-signed eShop titles and DLC, and you don't want to poke around the system via FTP, then Haxchi doesn't offer much. Honestly, Haxchi doesn't offer anything you can't do by using the browser exploit to launch Mocha. But it works every time and it doesn't require an active network connection and web server.
I like that I have it as an option, and if I don't run it, it's not much more than a different rom.zip tucked away in one title's directory.
