I think I have a problem...
« on: June 17, 2016, 06:25:30 am »
I've just completed my 3rd arcade project.  With each build I've thought to myself that I could go smaller.  My first project was a half cab, I got the dimensions of a tempest machine and then sawed it in half.  It was intended to be a bartop, but I'd underestimated just how big it was going to be.  My second project came in kit form and I built myself a proper bartop, learning by my original mistakes.  I transferred most of the contents from my original build and installed a proper JAMMA harness and a cheap Chinese multi board.   This made it more plug and play as I was having some PC issues before.  My 3rd project was a hack of an ion icade cabinet with a raspberry pi.

I still think I can go smaller, and then I stumbled across this...

https://www.element14.com/community/community/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-accessories/blog/2014/03/01/build-an-mini-arcade-cabinet--hack-an-arcadie-gamedock-with-a-raspi

and it comes in kit form too...

bit pricey but would it be viable to do this with a pi zero and a 4 inch screen?  And do I have a problem?  How small can it go?

Nah, don't do that one.  If you want a kit form micro build, check here.

There's plenty of micro builds here that show that you can. Especially if you're planning to buy a kit.
