Bad for Videos Commercial Jukebox Software
« on: March 04, 2016, 01:31:35 pm »
Hi,
About 2 months ago, I made a mistake of purchasing a commercial jukebox software. Touchjams.
My plan was to start using it in my Video jukeboxes.
It has excellent features. Accounting, Keymapping, advertisement, artist and song search, all kinds of settings.
I was happy, finally something that will work my routes, I was ready to blow the competition away with
their old antiquated software. Boy was I wrong.
The music (mp3, WMA,) went with no problem. Then I went to Videos, this is when the nightmare started.
The software would play between 5-7 music videos before freezing, or hanging, or crashing.
Tried it with W10, W7 64, W7, 32 XP,
used it in difrent P.C. Intel P4, Core2 Duo 775, i5 1155,  AMD FM2, AM3+, 2G, 4G, 8G memory,
From the oldest to newest codecs, all sorts of combination of codec settings, "no luck"
does the same. Also it has a problem with ActiveMovie Window popping
up on the main screen, causing it to skip the next selection, also if you make a selection between selection
(just when it's changing from the previous to the next video it will play the selected selection right away, skipping
the supposed to play next selection and pop up the ActiveMovie Window on the main screen.
Also it would randomly skipp video selections in groups of 2 and 3 selections.
If your videos have ' in their track name it would skip them and say "file not found"
Was in contact with them, the person was very nice about it, but could not give a solution to these problems.
At the end they told me that they have more then 500 system working in pubs and that their are no complaints.
I hope to visit one of those pubs one day. I spend the last 2 months day & night trying to make it work.
For music it works, but for Videos it's a rip off.

See about getting a refund. It seems like you deligently tried to rule out all errors on your end.

Yes, I did, 2 months of hours of testing, I have a problem with my way of thinking, I think if somebody puts a software up for sale and advertises that it does things then I trust that person or persons that what they are charging me for does what it says it does.

I agree with Touchjams not working well for videos. I have used E-Touch for years and like it, but I saw Touchjams and it looked pretty good and I liked it has 1920x1080 resolutions skins. Works great with my music, but I experienced crashes every time eventually when playing a queue of videos. Same issues the OP reported.

I guess I'm lucky though because all my videos are tagged using TAG file from the E-Touch non-mp3-tagger app. So I would've need to tag all the video files themselves to appear correctly in Touchjams. A nice feature would be an option to not have Touchjams display any tag info if it's not available. Touchjams will add Unknown to the artist and album and so video folders appear with an ugly UNKNOWN UNKNOWN above and below the album art. Looks like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- like that. With E-touch, prior to use their tagger, at least the folder name would be used, so Van Halen videos would at least show Van Halen below the cover art.
