Wells Gardner K7197 turns off after two min?
« on: March 01, 2016, 03:05:01 pm »
Hello forum,
when I turn my arcade on it turns off after about three minutes or less.  Sometimes it stays on for longer.  Not only does the monitor turn off but no power is being sent to the switching power supply.(red light on power supply turns off). Any ideas? No restorations or repairs have been done that I know of yet.  I recently purchased it. Thank you.

bad connection, maybe fuse, connector or a door switch or even loose wire in mains plug

I dont know if this is the issue but I found a blown capacitor.  Upper left hand side next to the two white wire connection. What does that cap do? Is that a common issue? Thank you.

that would cause the monitor to shut down,i think you should consider changing some caps

also take a good look at the flyback transformer, inspect it for cracks

although none of this would explain why the entire cab power shuts off, that would be caused by what i stated earlier

Check the fuse on the isolation transformer. Also consider inspecting the three prong electrical plug. I recently replaced mine after finding some loose wires.
