  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I installed CRT EMudriver 2.0, all ok, i noticed both outs DVI and VGA displays at 15khz, i need to reconect the PC monitor to change some things in the system, but i dont know how do this. I read this for XP:

"You just need to setup each screen as a separate desktop from XP's display properties dialog, then assign the right video mode for each of them: a 15 kHz mode for the arcade monitor (e.g. 640x480@60i), and a whatever kHz mode for the LCD (e.g. 1920x1080@60)"

I have Win7 and will be great to know how procedure... i dont want to lost mine actual configuration testing things, if anyone have clear steps please let me know.
Thanks a lot.

If you just plug the LCD on boot it Windows will detect it and apply the right resolution (probably messing your current setup at the same time). Either learn how to get your 15 kHz config back to correct after that (no big deal) or learn how to do basic setup using your 15 kHz monitor (not too hard either).

Assuming it's an HD 4xxx card.

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

I have found it a nice solution to stop switching monitors.

1) Install TightVNC (Server) on your cabinet
2) Use the EDID trick in the CRT2.0 drivers to force the detection of a fake 2nd monitor
3) Set the 2nd monitor to a nice resolution (1200x1024 ish). You will need to go to the properties and tick "show settings this monitor cannot display" (cant remember the exact text).

4) Use TightVNC client from your regular desktop with a 1920x1080 display to connect to your Cabinet and config with a modern resolution.
5) Drink beer and play games.

This has saved me a stack of time, as both WinUAE(GUI) and RocketLauncher(GUI) do not play well at 640x480.

Don't forget to drop your VNC session before you launch an emulator, most of them don't like it.

Hello, i did this way to exchange "PC to Arcade" and "Arcade to PC" :

GO BACK TO MONITOR PC FROM ARCADE MONITOR
(VGA card out conected to Arcade Monitor / DVI out (with adapter) conected to PC)

1. Go to Screen Properties, from there we can see Screen2 selected
2. Select Screen1, change "show destop only in 2" by "Extend this screens" an Apply
3. Once we mark Apply, we can see desktop background image on PC monitor
4. Keep changes on screen dialog message, we can see screen1 selected, resolution and horizontal now are active, change "Extend this screens" by "show destop only in 1" and Apply
5. The image dissapear in arcade monitor and now we have full display on monitor PC.

GO BACK TO MONITOR ARCADE FROM PC MONITOR
(DVI out (with adapter) conected to PC / on step 4 conect the VGA card out to Arcade Monitor)

1.  Go to Screen Properties
2.  Select Screen2, change "show destop only in 1" by "Extend this screens" an Apply
3.  Once we mark Apply, we can see desktop background image on PC monitor
4.  Fast Turn on Arcade Monitor (conect to vga card out), Keep changes on screen dialog message, we can see screen2 selected (if not select), resolucion changed to 640x480 and below we can see "Extend this screens" selected.
5.  Change "Extend this screens" by "show destop only in 2", apply, monitor pc turns off and keeps configuration on arcade monitor.
