Trying GroovyMame and how conect in Nanao MS929...
« on: February 16, 2016, 03:13:34 pm »
Hello, i followed this guide http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=290 to try preparing my Groovymame configuration for Nanao MS9, here software installed and hardware i´m using:

Windows 7 Ultimatex64
crt_emudriver_13.1_1.2b_w7_64
vmmaker_arcade_osd_1.4
groovymame 0.170
hyperspin 1.4
Sappire Vapor-X HD4890 1G
J-PAC
Taito Egret 2
Nanao MS9-29T
Tube Toshiba A68KJU96X

I changed in VMMaker.ini and Mame.ini (if someone have same hardware please let me know if i can setup different way):

MameExe = "C:\HyperSpin\Emulators\MAME\mame64.exe"
IniPath = "C:\HyperSpin\Emulators\MAME\ini\"
ListFromXML = 0
GenerateXML = 0
ModeTableMethod_Custom = 0
DriverPath = "C:\crt_emudriver_13.1_1.2b_w7_64\driver\W86A_INF\"

I changed in Mame.ini:

rompath                   C:\HyperSpin\Emulators\MAME\roms
monitor                   arcade_15

Rest options by default (matches according guide), also i Open ReslList - super.txt and followed the instructions in there in order to use super resolution.

I´m jammed at final step:

6. After rebooting, the system should be ready to switch to a 15-kHz mode by way of the Arcade OSD application -- it's the moment to care about having connected the 15-kHz-capable CRT display and then setting a suitable desktop mode.

-After Reboot and open ArcadeOSD i saw in DOS like only DISPLAY1 is conected (The HD4890 have DVI, VGA and HDMI outs, i assume i should conect DVI with adapter to VGA and to the JPAC on VGA, i dont know if i plug something to VGA conector on the card, this will be appear like conected- i dont think because in windows i have only 1 screen available)
-I dont know how manage Arcade OSD, or what menus manage exactly at this point to select a config 15Khz? and then switch to arcade crt monitor, i think i´ll have to set first the Arcade OSD and maybe then unplug dvi from pc monitor and conect DVI to JPAC and arcade monitor.

I´ll want test first this method guide, but i´m lost in Arcade OSD , and if works try later this new guide:
http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1016#p1016
because seems much easier and that driver seems allow 2nd display, but to try this also i´ll have to know how full delete "crt_emudriver_13.1_1.2b_w7_64" on my system to try install the new driver, because i suppose is needed clean older driver, right?

I tried to play with Arcade OSD, and i can set resolutions, i tried for example 640x480 60Hz in lcd monitor but the kHz are in .... and i dont know how set 15Khz there, also i noticed changing resolutions that now in Hyperspin, on the square video i only can see a green square.  Will be great to know if i set  640x480 60Hz with .... in Khz is save for test in the arcade tube and the software will changes the Khz to 15Khz itself.
Mmmm, the square green video problem in Hyperspin seems be a problem flash (aceletarion hardware on), it seems after a reboot the aceleration flash hardware was on, once i declicked the option now the videos in Hyperspin works again correct.

I attached  my files mame.ini and VMMaker.ini and result VMMaker
After reboot i open ArcadeOSD, but videomodes all are native, no one custom, i dont know how steps follow from here to set 15Khz or how conect the computer to the arcade tube.

Thanks for help.Regards all forum.

Just uninstall the driver from the usual Add/Remove programs menu in Windows 7. Then download the CRT Emudriver 2.0 and follow this guide: http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?id=298

(in your current situation, all you should do is enter "video modes" and select 640x480, it should appear as "custom" if you have installed the modes properly, then your LCD should go out of sync, and at that point you can plug your CRT through a DVI-VGA adapter. Anyway the Emudriver 2.0 will allow you to use the VGA output directly, so you'd better upgrade).
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hello, thanks for reply Calamity, in video modes if i selected 640x480 or another always appear like native, i dont have any custom modes, maybe i missed some steps, i dont know, anyways, i desinstalled in programs something that appeared on the list called  "windows driver amdkmdap", also i had 2 more "windows display driver lines", i desinstall all 3, and reboot. To delete the water mark "windows probe mode compilation 7601 text" i used a windows 7 util  removewatermarkx64.exe ,to delete only this text, after that i used the ati clean web driver.

I read carefully the crt 2.0 emudriver guide, and when i have all prepared to begin ( i put a lcd monitor, and the computer -no ethernet plugged- near arcade and all prepared to begin) is once i click on CRT Emudriver 2.0 beta8 setup, and the setup marqued square dialog that shows me: Vga compatible card (no the HD4800 compatible).

Well, it seems even the setup shows: Vga compatible card, once begin installation, test mode be active, the driver install ok, after a reboot i can see the HD4800 diver CRT Emudriver on display, i followed all steps from the 2.0 guide crt emudriver and ALL WORKED OK! Image on games are OUTSTANDING, very clear, less in Hyperspin, some blurry on Hyperspin Effects, but i suppoose will be possible get better results.

Now i noticed that all is set to display in 15Khz, i mean that if i conect a PC monitor in DVI conector only i can see the boot on screen (because still 31Khz) if i´m right, but once windows finished load the lcd monitor screen set OFF, then...

How could i manage the display properties to get in DVI out display 31khz for Pc monitors, and still have the VGA out display in 15Khz? I didnt change nothing in screen properties still remains: "desktop only to display 2"

Can i modify screen properties to allow normal DVI at 31 kHz to conect again pc monitor?

The HD4890 have also HDMI, that video out also will display at 15 khz?

Thanks a lot for the help again,
Regards.
