Cocktail Frogger Machine
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:05:45 am »
Hi Everyone,

I bought this cocktail arcade machine about 20 years ago. It had a fair bit of use at the beginning but for the last 15 or so years it has been sitting in the basement and not being used. Thankfully I stumbled across this great forum with a lot of enthusiasts who fix and enjoy this machine. I'm trying to get an understanding of what an arcade machine like this is going for just to make sure I'm not missing out on a large opportunity or asking way too much over the market price on these. Are these collector items?Thank you.

I don't think he wants to mame it... just sell it.

As i read in one of the introductions to this site, these cabinets have historical value. Restoring it would be your best bet and a better price if you do decide to sell it at some point. If you want a full mame or custom cabinet with lots of games you can build your own for roughly $60 in material cost for the cab itself.

Please restore it, you'll be glad you did.

Kids, kids. Settle down.

First, a half-assed restoration will likely not raise the price and can have the opposite effect. There is a steep learning curve in restoration and real collectors can be very picky. Also, this cab looks to be in very good shape.

Sometimes people outside of the hobby have machines fall into their laps and don't have an idea about value. Many hope that they have found something worth a lot of $$$, but the reality is that market value in this hobby is what somebody will pay you. The market is small and knowledge levels vary.

There was a guy about a year ago on KLOV who was going to part out his Frogger cocktail because he couldn't sell it.

Having said that: "Frogger - Dedicated cocktail $350-$550. Collector price." Sounds reasonable, but may take a long time to sell (or could go very fast).

I would put it on craigslist with a "$350 Firm" price if you actually want to sell it.

You also have the option of listing it at $500 sticking to your guns and wasting at least $150 worth of your time with tire kickers.

$350 sounds very reasonable. It's in great shape.
