Midway's Space Encounters
« on: December 01, 2015, 03:39:28 pm »
Friend from Jersey was driving to town and picked this up on his way and he sent me a pic of it laying in the back of his truck and said "do you want it?". Umm, hell yeah!! 7 hours later it was in my garage. I've seen this game in pictures and videos but never played if before.

Such a badass unique cab.

Big ole 23" black n' white.

The original color gel is laying in the bottom of the cab.

Crazy yoke set up.

Another complete oddball survivor cab that should clean up nicely. Got caps and a bunch of other bits needed for this thing on the way.

good day.

Sweet, another restore! That yoke is wild.

Lucky you. You plan to restore it as much as possible or leave it "patina" ?
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

It's the only place I've ever played it, although I don't know for sure if it's made it to the new place.

I Should be getting the Midway 8080 power supply kit tomorrow which will allow me to get an idea of the cab status in less than 5 minutes without having to touch the linear thingy. In the meantime, I grabbed the original monitor overlay that was in the bottom of the cab to get a better idea of its condition. After a nice gentile bath in cold water with a microfiber cloth it became clear the thing had potential. Thankfully the majority of the damage and bad scratches were on the non ink side. Wet sanded with 3000 grit and finished it off with novus #3 & #2. Stoked with the results.

good day.
