Upgraded to Win 7 + need a little help starting GM
« on: November 19, 2015, 02:54:15 am »
Hi Groovymame gurus,
I'm hoping you can help me. I've been using an old XP machine with Grooymame+arcade monitor for a while and decided to move to a Win 7 install.

It has gone very well to a point. I've installed a fresh Win 7 64bit, and the emu drivers installed ok after a reboot (and popping a missing dll file into a system folder). I also followed the instructions for creating super resolution video modes, and that seemed to work well too.
Right now I have solid 640x480i desktop on my arcade monitor + have a load of resolutions to switch between in Arcade OSD.
My problem is that I can't get Groovymame (0.158, 64bit) to start a game. It tries, but fails. I've given it admin rights.

I've attached a log. I'd really appreciate any advice!
Zipper.

Your log doesn't show any super resolution installed. Besides, all supposed custom modes appear as non-custom (system), that's odd. Try running VMMaker again, make sure it has admin rights and see what it prompts in the screen (make sure it's not saying registry access disabled).

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Thanks very much for the reply.
I can't see any obvious errors when VMMaker runs. I've attached vmm_output.txt incase you can spot anything.
When I run Arcade OSD, after setting 'lock unsupported modes' to 'No', I can see some 2560x custom resolutions and I'm able to test them.
I've attached some VMM output files + associated ini files incase they help.

I tried a fresh Windows install and got the same results  ???
The Calamity custom driver looks like it's installed ok... and the VMMaker runs well... and the Arcade OSD app seems to be able to run some low, custom resolutions.
It's Win 7 Pro 64bit, Sapphire HD 4350 card.
If anyone is interested, I've popped a little video up:

Any help would be appreciated - the drivers + groovymame truly are superb and I'd love to get it working - i've got an XP machine that I've been running for a year now and it's great, the only problem is that it's huge! For now I'll go back to using that.

Perfect! Thanks very much for your time and patience
Have a few dollars for a beer on me. Groovymame is heaven for arcade gamers like myself - your work is massively appreciated.
