Pinballx for a racing frontend
« on: September 24, 2015, 10:22:53 pm »

I'm not sure how many of you all have set up a pincab using pinballx. Its not too bad and it is very stable. I got the idea to use it as a racing front end. I have set most of it up it seems to work fine for about any emulator and steam. I removed as much of the pinball stuff on there thatI could. Here are some preliminary pics. I have changed it around some since then

 The
appeal to me was the wheel turning pinballx's wheel. seemed fitting for a driving cab

You might want to try checkered flag.  It looks more or less the same, but I've been gearing it a bit more towards racing cabs.  Admittedly I kind of abandoned it, but I'll get back to working on it soon.

i gave it a shot and couldn't get it working. it did have the same look. I'm kind of a GUI guy.so pinballx was easier. I got an extra monitor laying around it is real easy to add a second or third screen with pinball. I only want a second.I thought about a changeable high res marquee. right now I have a PS3 and a mediocre PC. So I'm going to take the PS3 out and change out the PC for an A8 4200K 6g ram and SSD, with a GT650 NVidia card. No problems running Mame Games. I have also been adding to your logo list. I have added about 30-40 to the list.

I think it looks pretty cool from your pics. Can you remove the featuring 13 tables bit?

BTW yes I just hadn't got to it.

And kudos to checkered flag Howard but I couldn't get it going.

Yes pinball x is made for pincabs, but the one thing I've noticed is turning the wheel to select games seems more natural than lets say Mala. The other advantage is its very customizable but still simple. The difficult thing that I've found is finding logos. everybody on this thread put together a bunch, but I added to the list with about 30-40 more. I will eventually upload.

Update since pinballx supports multiple screens. I removed the marquee from the wheel images and added logos instead. They have transparent back grounds and look much better. I'm gonna do a dynamic marquee with a 22 in monitor like they do on pincabs, use only the top 5" or so and put the rest inside the cab.

Update I've tweaked the multiple screen as I said above with only using top 5" I  am using reasonably high res marquees that i've found. a very difficult task.If I could figure out how to hell to use MS publisher I could prob make some nice ones. Some are just horrible like motor raid and some of the obscure racing ones on mame.I will update soon with a pick of the way it is all set up.

I was MIA for about 3 months after having rotator cuff surgery. And I don't recommend this surgery for the faint of heart. it comes with a lot of pain and difficulty sleeping.
