After a couple of iterations of building completely custom cabs and parting with them, I decided I wanted a cab again, but lack the time or motivation to build one totally from scratch.
I obtained a 25" SmashTV that was converted to Tekken 3 for $175 locally.
I'm converting this to drive GroovyMame via a PC mounted inside, using a WG K7000 25" chassis and a donor tube. The tube in the cabinet was consistently blurry, and even after a recap of the k7000, I couldn't get it to converge. The plastics on the tube were brittle and broken, and the convergence rings were broken as well. I found an RCA donor tube and did a tube swap, and have a MUCH, much better picture now.
Some details of what features the completed cabinet will have:
- Custom Artwork
- 2xUltimarc ServoStik auto-switching 4-way/8-way joysticks
- 2xUltimarc U-Trak trackball
- 25" k7000 Arcade Monitor
- Custom PC running GroovyMame + CRT_Emudriver
- *Maybe* multiple control panels
More to come....
