Want to buy: OMNI Stik Basic Joysticks
« on: August 15, 2015, 09:22:18 am »
Hey, Everyone-

I'm brand new to the Forum here-

I started building my MAME a few years ago, as time permitted.  Built the cabinet and a four player control panel, but installed only one joystick and a few buttons, wanting to get it working before I invested more $$ into more controls.  Three years later and I am getting back into the project.  Can't find my receipts to determine what joystick model I used, but I'm pretty sure it is an OMNI Stik Basic.  I would really like to buy three more to complete the control panel, since I have already cut the tailored mounting holes out with a router and it would be a huge pain to have to build a whole new control panel.

I saw this ad at Groovy Game Gear, which looks like what I want to buy: http://www.groovygamegear.com/page12.html

But I can't seem to find the item on the website to put in my shopping cart.  Can anyone help?!  :hissy:

The current product page for the OMNI-Stik PRODIGY is here, but I don't think Randy can get the parts to make them any more.   :dunno

Thanks for the quick reply, and thanks for the help.

It looks like the link you sent is for the "OMNI stik Prodigy" joystick.  I need to buy 3 "OMNI stik Basic" joysticks.  (If you look at the original link I sent, it show the Prodigy at the top, but you have to scroll down to get to the Basic).  Seems like if they show the Basic in their ad, you should be able to buy it, but I can't find it to buy.  I have sent them (Groovy Game Gear) an email asking how to buy and have not heard back.  :dunno

I was hoping for another source for the basic...

Oops.  Sorry about that.  :embarassed:

Not sure where you found the link in your OP, but that page was last updated in March 2010.

Looks like Randy forgot to scrub some old pages off his server when he updated the site several years ago.   :dunno

If by OMNI-Stik Basic you mean the OMNI-Stik Prodigy without the mounting plate, then the joystick you're talking about is actually a rebranded Suzo 500. Unfortunately, they're no longer manufactured.

I've been trying to source some blue or red handled ones for ages without success. However, if you're OK with black handles, Ultimarc still stocks them.

They're really nice joysticks. It's a shame they're no longer made.
