PS2 Network Adaptor
« on: December 30, 2003, 11:09:29 am »
Does anyone know if the PS2 Network Adaptor works if you connect it to a network hub and use Internet Connection Sharing with Windows 2000? I don't want to have to come downstairs and unplug the cable modem from the computer and connect it directly to the PS2. I have a network cable running upstairs already and it is connected to a 100Mbps hub that connects to my 4 other computers. I use my Windows 2000 computer to connect directly to the cable modem and then use Internet Connection Sharing for the rest of the computers. I have searched the web and I thiknk I found a site saying it will work but I want to be sure. BTW, the hub is just a hub, not a router. I know I should get a router but I don't want to so there! Thanks for your help.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.  You should be fine.

I believe it will work also, but I would like to know if anyone out there has tried it and weather or not it works for sure. I don't want to waste $35 if I don't have to. I don't want it if I have to run downstairs and swap cables when I want to use it. Thanks again.

Hey, was just passing by, and I decided to share this information with you:

http://www.keypoint.com.au/knowledge.html?strid=1417

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/NetworkAdaptorFAQ

http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=tmbo&message.id=1738

That 3rd link is a 1 page Forum Thread (I know you said "no-no" to the router idea, but in the last post somebody says they use a hub, so I guess if you wanted to, you ask them.  :-\ )

Hope I helped a bit

I have no PS2 experience but my xbox's work just fine doing it that way.

When I owned a ps2 I used it with a switch and had no problems at all.
