  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
One step closer...

I started out installing MaLa then went to Game Ex....but what I had my eye on since I first started dreaming up to build the viglix was Hyperspin but didn't think I had the patience or the know-how to get it done until I saw Austin's Full install tutorials on youtube.

I decided to use one of the newer-ish laptops laying around the house and went for the full Hyperspin install.  What a PITA that was.  Buying the hyperspin drive preformated would have been much better.  I ended up doing the full install more then 3x from scratch to get the crazy thing working.  I used mostly Austin's HyperSpin Install videos on Youtube.  They work up until a certain point and then you have to wing it on your own.  I just carefully used his advice on never deleting a file with out first saving a backup version of it.

Anyhow,  at 3:00am last night I finally had the full Arcade classics MAME rom set working.  What a HUGE sign of relief when the wheel actually clicked to show the fade screen to show the stats and the year cab made and then fade into the romset.  I have all the preview movies working the animated splash pages going too.  They realy give the kids a feel of what the games were like back then.  Couldn't be happier!!!

Austin does use an awesome filter to give MAME a very realistic scan line rendering!!!!  IMHO better then the extra dongle piece I've seen....AND it didn't work with my version of MAME.  If anyone has more advice on getting that working that would be GREAT!!!

Now the final part is finishing the Vigolix cabinet.  Hope to be done in a few weeks now.  Home stretch now!!!!  Thanks for everyones help thus far...

It would have been just a photo of a computer screen with street fighter and the hyperspin wheel spinning!  LOL  Or the fade page with date and year of the game.
