GroovyArcade-Arch2015.02.15-x86_64.iso and new hardware
« on: February 26, 2015, 08:03:47 am »
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to retrieve information about this release of GroovyArcade but I haven't found anything. I would built new Mame system with a newer PC but I'm not sure it will be compatible with Groovyarcade.

The new mainboard is AsRock QC5000-ITX with Amd chipset, A4-5000 integrated cpu and AMD Radeon HD 8330. I have any hope to running 15khz with this hardware?

Hi nextgeneration,

Last time I checked the open source ATI driver only supported up to HD 7xxx. We're limited to the cards currently supported by it.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

I checked AMD website and Omega 14.12 support hd 8xxx cards. Why open source driver are required?

The patches that Groovy Arcade implement are built around the open source driver. If you feel like experimenting you could try the proprietary driver with GroovyMAME. I highly doubt it will accept low resolutions but who knows...

Were you ever able to get 15khz running on your AsRock with Radeon HD 8330?
