Triforce Dolphin issues
« on: March 14, 2015, 05:10:47 am »
Hi. Experienced triforce Mario Kart GP2 users please help. After sorting multiple issues I cant fix a number of others:

Dolphin Triforce 3.0-694 x64:
Loads game fine, auto credits etc. minor audio bugs but playable however when I finish a race I cannot exit back to the attract screen, it simply goes blank after the following screen. I have tried different iso's, ini's and 1 by 1 configuration changes, no luck.

Dolphin Triforce 4.0-308 to 315 x64:
config changed as per same config on multiple forums, youtube links etc. Game boots but cant get past the io screens:

If I can fix the attract screen error in the 3.0 version then I will be happy, reason for the later version was thinking the bug may have been fixed.

I have also tried this on 3 different Intel based PC's, ie Q6600, E6850, i7 and i7 laptop.

Game config file is:

I'm not at my computer at the moment to be able to check, but I'm fairly certain you can't go back to the attract screen from the continue screen normally - I think that's just the way the emulation works. You can however sort out the minor crackles and pops by changing one of the audio plugins. I think (off the top of my head) you need the Open AL plugin.

Cool I will have a look as the sound bugs are random, sometimes there is a pop and crackle, other times the exhaust noise is loud and doesn't relate to throttle position like its another participants  :censored: . Yep it seems you are right about the attract screen. I have a work around by using the save states to reopen the attract screen without having to reload the rom.

I tried the DSP LLE recompile from here:

However that doesn't work, it produces no sound at all.

I believe my sound issues maybe CPU performance related as when the emulator is running I am using 90-99% CPU, on both cores. I might try an oclock and see if it makes a difference.

Progress. I overclocked the E8400 to 3.3ghz with 4GB DDR 3 ram. It now runs at 80% across 2 cores however no change in audio issues. I also ran on my Dell xps laptop 7.9 windows score i7, 16GB ram etc and it still fails and that uses only 24% of the processor.

Not sure what to do next.  :banghead:

I also tried another .iso from an alternative source

Anybody got any success, if so what version are you using?

Strange  ???

On my 10 year old Dell AIO Pentium E5400 with Intel G41 video onboard chipset I get a stable 50 fps running the 3.0-694 32bit version however on the 64bit version I get 10fps.

Tomorrow I will try 32bit on the cabinet PC as it is leaps and bounds ahead of this old dog, hopefully that's the issue and the 64bit build is the issue.

Here's a screenshot of my audio set-up for Dolphin Triforce 3.0-694 and a video of it in action (as well as a Triforce build for MKGP1). I think I'm running the 32 bit version.

If you listen carefully to your video you can hear a throttle exhaust noise that does not match either vehicle, this is the ghost throttle noise I speak of. Its clear in your video that the throttle noise doesn't match any of the vehicles as it keeps going up and down even when your cars are doing full speed.  :hissy:

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

SORTED!!!! Finally. Here is what I have done and it gives perfect sound, no ghost exhaust, 60 fps, no clicking or buzzing.

Dell 755 SFF workstation.
Windows 7 64bit Pro SP1
4GB DDR2 Ram
E8400 3.0ghz 1333fsb Intel Core 2 Duo
Nvidia G210 512MB video card
500GB Sata 2 7200k HDD
Latest windows updates
No antivirus
Windows search, indexing, firewall, defender, updates disabled
Latest manufacturer drivers. Its not a win 7 supported machine but the Vista Drivers work fine.

Dolphin Triforce 3.0-694 x86 (yes 32bit)
MKGP2 iso from the isozone
2010 and 2012 C++ redis from Microsoft
Logitech Driving force pro including latest drivers

Dolphin settings:
Used the 32bit download from
Its already setup for MKGP2
Game ini as per above post

I changed the audio backed from xaudio to Dsound
dx9 chosen. dx11 causes all sorts of slow downs, glitches etc even though my card is DX11 supported
Fullscreen res is 800x600 as I am running through a 29inch arcade screen in cabinet so any higher makes no different
Internal res 640x528 (Native)
Anti Aliasing none(don't need as arcade screen)
Anisotropic filtering 1x (don't need as arcade screen)
The rest is left as is pre configured from the youtube link above.

Whats so great about this is that the PC hardware is ultra cheap, there are heaps of these ex lease machines floating about. Also running 32bit version @74% CPU compared to the 64bit version @100% CPU just goes to show that the 64bit version isn't actually optimised for 64bit OS/CPU etc.

My settings may not work for you but if you are persistent then you should get a good outcome.
