groovyarcade documentation and source code
« on: February 07, 2015, 12:07:13 pm »
Hi,

I've been playing around with groovyarcade (nearly there, just one issue remains!).  Is the source code available?  I tried cloning the git repository but it is empty.  I'd basically like to learn more about it so I can install different frontends and new emulators, try out a stretched LCD with it for marquee images etc.

Thanks

Check the AUR packages mantained by Cools. The only missing part are the GA setup scripts which you can rip from the live cd. No centralized up-to-date source base I'm afraid, I've begged for this lots of times but it didn't happen and I doubt it will (I'm not the one mantaining it), sorry. I'm mostly focused on Windows these days.

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hi Jimbo how did you go?
I'm planning on doing similar things to you. Like you said you can't download the source from GIT.

I'm focusing on Attract-Mode Emulator Frontend and FightCade for now.

Any help on editing menus etc would be appreciated.

I'm new to GIT/version control etc. What is the typical procedure to upload modifications to see if they can be included in GroovyArcade?

Hi lacanian,

I'll be using Attractmode I think, since it seems to have a nice plugin system and works with on-the-fly rotation, which I will need for my cab.  I've not really delved into it too much yet, but I will be soon.  Git is relatively easy once you know the basics.  Without a repository though you can't really submit patches/changes/features etc.  You'd need to contact the developer directly (is it Cools?).

BTW, your guide is great. Many thanks.

If you go to the GroovyArcade home page you can kind of guess the developers email address. The other developer is Calamity who doesn't look after GroovyArcade from my understanding.

I sent an email so I'll let you know if I get a response.

If you want to submit any change or feature to Groovy Arcade, your best chance is to address Ves directly, either by email or pm. Unfortunately he is quite busy with his current job and doesn't enter here so often.
