mame parents only on a raspberry?

hi all,

now that my box is done, i am looking for a way to trim rom sets and in mame, i would like to only display the parent rom.

i have tried romlister but it crashed on my pc.  is there anything else out there that i can filter rom down to just parents?

feel like an idiot, been forever since i've had to fiddle with rom files, forgot all about clrmamepro.
