Yet another Vigolix Very small update. 'scuse the mess!

Well boys and girls, it's been over a year since I completed the REDLINE, and I figured it's time to get after building another one, this time for my two smaller nephews. (my younger sister's boys)

Here's my basic plan:

+Normally scaled vigolix, except wider and two player, again using more MDF than is normally called for.
+Will do my best to eliminate those "ears" at the top that plague most vigolix builds.
+19" monitor
+slightly nicer than the REDLINE upon completion

Pics to follow before too long. I have most of my cuts made already, and that's been covered pretty well in previous builds so I'll pick up somewhere later

Ok, between work, school and chasing around two babies, I've been a pretty busy guy, but managed to get a few hours in today.

Finished the sides and got some of the bottom furring glued in. I'm eschewing screws completely in this build and going glue only (except for the base and monitor mount) so it's taking me a bit longer than it should since I have to wait for the glue to dry  before I can reuse my clamps.

Since this particular build style has been pretty well documented, I'm not going to unleash a deluge of pictures on you guys until it's a bit further along.

Took the front of the monitor bezel off and mounted the monitor. I'm still figuring exactly where it's going to be for optimal height. (my youngest nephew is a little tyke.)

I'll throw a few washers on the back for better grip, but it really doesn't need it....

The base was a pain in the arse. The actual box was easy- the top MDF has angled edges on both sides, this will become evident why later on.

That's all for now. Tomorrow, assuming nothing happens I should be able to build the CP, finish the furring and mount the monitor, which will give me a solid basis for completing the build. Stay tuned.

Got stuck raking leaves today instead of building, but managed to sneak in a few minutes to test the fit of the base and front panel. So far so good. Base is spot on, and there's no wobble that I can see. I have the parts clamped but not glued resting on top of a scrap piece of deck wood to keep moisture from the ground away from the bottom.

Pardon the mess, all the yard waste blew got transferred to my garage floor after a gust of wind blew in.

Here's why I angled that last cut on the base topper. Matches up nice, no?

I'll fill and sand any irregularities on the wood from the cut and I think it will turn out pretty decent in the end.
