installed happ trackball wrong way .....help
« on: September 27, 2014, 09:54:50 pm »
i have already cut the hole and applied the artwork, buttons, wired etc......every thing is finished
............then i plugged it in for a test run and found that when i scroll the trackball up ,the mouse cursor goes in a different direction  :banghead:

is there anyway to fix this problem, like maybe rewiring and if so how?  any help would be grately appreciated

I really dont want to rebuild cause the artwork was expensive and if i cut the hole any bigger the mounting plate wont fit....any solutions, thanks cheers stavros

Flip the connector
:whap

What you actually need to do is switch the two data lines for the axis that is going the wrong way.

For example, if the axis that is backward has 4 wires that are red (5v), black (ground), yellow (data 1), and green (data 2), you would swap the yellow and green wires.

i tried that....switching the green and white wires (dosn't have a yellow wire) but that didnt work so i just cut the hole a little and fudged the trackball around 90 degrees and it works great now.

but thanks heaps for your help/input, as always is appreciated  :applaud:
cheers guys

Glad to hear it is working now.   ;D

To clarify for anyone reading this thread later, your description sounded like one axis was ok and the other was backward.

One axis backward (i.e. pushing the trackball left makes it go right)= swap the data lines for that axis.

Swapped axes (i.e. pushing the trackball left makes it go up) = swap data lines from one axis to the other. (or swap connectors from one optical board to the other)

The green wire (top of pic below) should be connected to frame ground to bleed off any static electricity the trackball generates.
