Cocktail cab player 2 problem
« on: August 14, 2014, 06:29:32 pm »
I just plugged in my cocktail cab for the first time and all good apart from when you choose 2 players, the screen won't flip to player 2 side and player 2 cp won't work

Please help. Is it a settings issue?  I have dip switch number 2 set to on.  Anything else I need to do?  Also how do you get to the service menu?  I have service and test buttons and they work but do I need to hold service down while I switch on machine?

Thanks

John

That's all MAME settings.  Cocktail flipping is not part of the original game, and most old school games expect to use the same stick for P1 and P2.  Pull out your keyboard and when in game, hit TAB.  You will probably need to config each game separately to work with P2 and screen flip.

60 in 1 Online Manual in PDF format -- http://www.jammaboards.com/arcade_manuals/60-in-1_iCade_Classic_Arcade_Manual_Online.pdf

According to it you press the switch and keep pressed while turning on or flip the Dip switch 3 Bit 4 to ON

And for 2 player cocktail setup you want Dip SW2 bits 4 and 5 set to ON (Page 4 of manual)

@SLIPPY -- IIRC he is on a 60 in 1 board not Mame.

Oh, well then slap ---my bottom--- and call me Shirley.  My bad.

In that case ignore my previous post and follow JD.  :)

I only have one dip switch on my 60 in 1 which has 4 bits on it.  I think it's what they have labelled as switch 3.  Currently I have 1,2,3 ON and 4 OFF.  Screen still does not flip

Also, I only have 1 P Coin connected for credit, I have left 2P COIN off.  Is that right?

Each game has it's own virtual DIP switch settings as well.

Haven't used the 60 in 1 but I son't think the games on them care if you use 1 or 2 coin inserts as long as you have 2 credits it should be able to start a 2 player game ( there are some games that require separate inputs but they are mostly 4 player games that do so to keep each player using their own coins when competing against each other ! ie TMNT )

I think the other so called Switches are actually pages in the system setup menu not physical switch blocks on the PCB

Might need SW3 Dip 1 off as I think that is to change from Horizontal to vertical display (or Vice Versa) not to flip for cocktail mode That is in the setup menu under SW2 dips 4 and 5. (both On for 2 player cocktail mode)

Found a pic of the screen

As shown here the second line 4th and 5th inputs need to change from Off to ON and then in the list on the bottom it will change from Cabinet : Upright/1 Control to Cabinet : Cocktail/2 Control (or It should !!)

I think the problem is that I can't get to that screen.  I press the service button and it shows a list of all the buttons and when I press them they change colour, and even that I cannot get the player 2 controls to change colour.

I'll keep working on it

Any other ideas would be great

I got into the setup menu and it only lets me change from player 1 upright and cocktail.  It should also give me two more choices, player 2upright and cocktail.  The board does not recognise that I have 2 sets of controls plugged in.  I have check switches with multimeter, all good.

Any ideas?

All sorted.  Thanks for your help and comments.  Seems that the daisy chain earth wire for player 2 cp had a break in it, so I just replaced it and all good.
