Mame resolution vs Mala resolution

I currently am using John's Arcade layout (awesome btw) on a vertical LCD monitor.I also have Craftymech's scanline generator.  My desktop, Mame, and Mala are all using the 640x480 resolution.  Because of this, the Mala layout doesn't look sharp because of the scanline generator.  MAME looks awesome with the scanlines, though.

Could I keep the 640x480 resolution for MAME  but use a different resolution for everything else?  That way I could have a crisp Mala menu, and also keep the MAME games looking "classic" as well.  This would work great, because the scanline generator only works with 640x480 and 1024x768 resolutions.

Yes.  Just set the resolution to whatever you want for mala in the desktop controls and then force the resolution from the command line for mame in the MALA menus.

I can't figure this out at all.  No matter what I do, i can't change the Mame resolution to anything different.  I change the ini for a game, nothing happens.  I add a command line to Mala, nothing happens.

If i wanted to change the mame resolution to 640x480 ( mala is at 800x600, desktop is at 640x480), what would the mala command line be?

I just made ini's for each MAME game where I wanted the resolution to be 640x480.  I thought I had tried that, but I must have done something wrong before.

Works like a charm now!
