question about audio in cabinent
« on: August 18, 2014, 05:27:44 pm »
i also asked a similar question in the main forum

let's say (in theory) i'll buy a 2.1 standard subwooder + speakers for my mame cabinent computer
something like this >

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_iDhNv-cFplo/TFj2TVnJHbI/AAAAAAAAAAM/tnyDQa2bxKw/s1600/2-1-Subwoofer-Speaker-for-PC-ES-2013--736675.jpg

and i'll buy just 2 car speakers new ones or from a used car agency ...
can i just cut the wires going from the subwoofer to the speakers and connect them directly to the car speakers ? (and it will work i mean...? )

also,
what do you sujjest for better sound quality ? car speakers ? or computer speakers ?

probably. They are just speakers. You'd only really have to worry if there was a crossover driving the satellites. The set you linked is a pretty cheap setup so it probably doesn't. They likely just straight drive them.

but if they have a crossover and have cut low frequencies to the satellites, you won't get good sound reproduction out of the replacements (car speakers or whatever.) because they won't have a full range audio signal going to them and would be cut-off of low frequencies. (google "crossover basics" for more info)

be sure to measure the ohm rating of the speakers you cut off to make sure they match the 4 ohm car speakers you are replacing them with.

also, is your "G" key broken?  :lol *suggest

so after a bit of thouts i can buy Logitech LS21 and just swap the speakers, they have about the same spect, as to frequency and ohm,
but is it worth it ?
or should i just stay with the logitech speakers ?

When I have used car speakers I have run them with a car amp powered off the PC Power supply.
