Suggestions for Mala
« on: May 11, 2014, 06:28:25 pm »
I'm back again to Mala.   I was running Max Arcade for a while, but ran into some issues.   Mala is the most stable FE I've used for years now and I always go back...

A few suggestions for Mala I would love to see;

One, instead of having to have attract videos, why not do like Maximus Arcade does and have a screensaver setting that plays the actual attracts for the Mame games?  The roms are there, so why have to store all those attract videos?  Obviously there would be settings for duration and random order, etc.

Second, please put in a way to dis-enable the Mame nag screens.  I know, I know...  This is a sensitive issue to some.   I'll never understand why.  I compile my own mame and disable the nags anyway, but it's just another needless pain in the ass.

Third, and one I would greatly appreciate, a delay setting for button pushes/assignments.  For example, the P2 button could have two or even more functions with a delay option on the press.  P2 could be assigned to Player 2, and it could be put on a 3 second delay to be used as an "escape" button, and put on a 10 second delay to shutdown the pc.   This way, buttons could have multiple uses and open up lots more flexibility.   Another example is like putting a delay on P2/button 4 and assigning it to add your favorites.   It's just a really good idea.

I'll revisit this and  add some more later, but now I have to run...

How about scrolling the name of the "selected" game in the "Game List" field when the title is too long for the field width?

Uhh, boy I don't know.  We always used to refer to him as just 'That Paper Chase Guy'...
