Rowe R91 lighting ballast
« on: May 02, 2014, 08:48:56 am »
My Rowe r91 is missing a ballast. Front door right hand side. other side from the service switch. Previous owner replaced it with a 240v (Australia) The lights were flickering, Now Ive found starters to stop that, I need to replace the missing ballast.
The manual I have only lists the top door ballast.

It looks like there are only 2 wires. On my R93 Juke there are 2 small ballasts for the small tubes with only 2 wires each.

I need to know if it is a 2 wire ballast and where to find one.

On a previous post I had problems with a R88 doing strange stuff. Alan hood from UK after testing mech control board(tested ok) said bad connector,  Spot on Mr hood

Help, Rishard

Hello Richard,

Is that you from oz?

There are two flourescent lamps in the R-91 a long one one the top of the lower door and a vertical lamp behind the lightbox, the two 130 volt cholks are one with wires on it and one with two wires.

I do have one of these lower doors in stock and I am prepaired to remove the full loom to include the lamp caps and starter sockets complete with both chokes and all the associated brackets to fit into your jukebox.

Please contact me direct if this is of interest to you.

Regards
Alan

Yes Alan, It is me from OZ.

Thanks for the reply, The ballast Im missing is the one for the short vertical fluro behind the lamp box.

Postage is a killer for me down here but the weather is great!
I really only need the ballast if you can help me out.

I don't know which lead is faulty in the r88 because I reseat them all when it plays up, no problems for months now.

Cheers,   Richard

Hello Richard,

I was sure it was you.

Have you tried getting a cholk (ballast) from Erwin Boot at Flamingo Records in Tasmania?

Here are Erwins details:-

flamrecs@bigpond.net.au
www.flamingo.com.au

AUTOMATIC MUSIC CO. and FLAMINGO RECORDS
Street: 140 Campbell Street, HOBART TASMANIA AUSTRALIA 7000
Postal: Box 717, HOBART TAS. AUSTRALIA 7001
Phone within Australia: 03 6234 1300 or 0418 127 514
Phone International: + 61 3 6234 1300 or + 61 418 127 514
Fax within Australia: 03 6234 3944
Fax International: + 61 3 6234 3944

If you can not get a ballast locally I can send you one from the UK, but as you say the postage even the economy route may be as much as the cost as the ballast.

I would estimate the cost of the part plus delivery will be £23.00

Regards
Alan
