Seeburg AY-160 Selection Issue
« on: January 10, 2014, 01:18:48 am »
Hi All,
I recently acquired a Seeburg AY-160 that is in pretty decent condition.  Everything seems to work great with one exception.  Although every other selection ( yes I checked them all ) picks up perfectly fine and centered in it's magazine rack location, when selecting A1 ( the far most left selection on the rack ) the mech. travels one more selection space to the left before the arm tries to lift a record. This is actually past the end of the magazine.  I'm not sure what is going on here.  Selection B1 in the same location (other side of the vinyl) picks up perfect.  Any ideas would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

I found the problem this evening while taking another look. So I'm going to document here for anyone else who may have a similar problem because I found nothing posted on this particular issue anywhere else.  It turns out that, I guess, over time reversing switch lever on the mech. had bent after being tripped back and foward for half a century. Not by much, but just enough to cause a problem with the A1 selection.  Following the "REVERSING SWITCH 1" adjustment in the service manual (page 2464) fixed it.
