Alien Poker was one of those take a gamble situations. I had never played one and this one was dead. It had some of the strangest damage I've ever seen on boards - one of the drive transistors for the sounds burned a hole through the driver board. All the logic that controlled that transistor was smoked, and the subsequent resistors and buffer chip on the sound board were blown.
Of course, everything tested fine with those "Leon chips."
Anyway, I bit the bullet and slapped a Rotten Dog combo board in it and nabbed another sound board. I'm sure I'll lose ---my bottom--- on it when it's time to trade/resell but it is actually a fun game.
Spectrum's a loaner. It had a few goofy problems that I semi-permanently corrected by adding a wall wart and modifying the service plug to come off and on with the machine. I had actually played a few Spectrums over the years and thought, "well, maybe there's more to it." Nope, there isn't. Game's a borderline stinker and not all that challenging. Should have known better after owning a Xenon for awhile.
Dart machine - bought 2, got one complete and working from the parts. Cap kitted the monitors and they still sucked. Goodwill 13" TV for the win.
