Marquee light and Power switch wiring
« on: October 07, 2013, 04:31:37 pm »
Im building my first arcade from scratch and Im trying to salvage what ever parts I can from this cabinet that I got a sweet deal on, as you can see in the pic (a little bit) the marquee light is tied into the power switch with a connecter and then the power switch has its owner connector at the bottom which Im guessing goes to a board or some other connector.....etc.

If I want to save this do I strip or take off he wires from the power switch and just tie it into the jamma connector/power supply directly? Also, do I do the same as well to the marquee light?

Im trying to go off the jamma wiring diagram but it doesnt say anything about using or not using connectors

Your marquee light looks like a standard 120V flourescent with starter.  It connects to AC not the jamma harness.

So I should leave it tied into the power (switch)? Its tied in to the wires via connector about 7-8 inches down from the switch which is not visible in the photo but it is connected.

Yes a standard florescent light gets its power from the main power in the cab.

never never ever tie a/c into the jamma harness
of course unless u want a alot of smoke and a ball of fire
jamma is low voltage olny 5/12/gnd some times -12/5
your ac is tied to the switch then the marquie light and and the monitor and power-supply for the game
if u are using a putter then the ac for it also
but never never to the jamma

Got it, Ok so here is a pic of the marquee tied in to the power switch, at the end of the wires there is another connector/s......Im assuming I strip that connect off and tie it into the filter......right?

Also Im not sure why there is 3 connectors?

Wow I feel dumb, it all makes much sense now.  ok so I can lose that eye lug connector and match it to what ever I have on my current monitor, correct?  Or should I just lose it.
