you must be more tired, you quoted yots as me, more than once.

After today's news, more 'sad' than tired. My CNC Shop has decided to move their focus back to their core business - which means CNC services won't be available after July 1. I'm forced to look around for a different solution, and hopefully they can do the same quality and work out similar pricing for the work I have.

:(

I know, right? I'm happy to report we're working on how to get the outbuilding built sooner, rather than later, and then I'm planning on building my own CNC. It's just a bit of a pain to have to move quicker on the whole plan.

Good luck with the search Rick.
I hope it works out for you.
I wish you the best of luck.

PS - I told Scott HURRY THE F**K UP and get in touch with Rick!
I'm super stoked for my unit, perhaps I'll drag him with me to pick it up.

Thanks Mike. Scott might be on the late side of things... I have a bit of stock left, but they may already be spoken for.

His loss, f**k him!
I only care about me anyway. I'm selfish! ::)
Once I have my Punch-Out bartop I can brag how awesome your stuff is and he can look at his incomplete cabinet for another 2 years.

Thanks Mike.

I have a guy who's about an hour away, and he's noted that he will be able to be "in the ballpark" with my current cost model... ...so, I just have to figure out a way for him to get each of my design parts in a DXF and translate them properly. Damn, this was so much easier when I just sent over a 3D model. (It's also a bit of a pisser that it'll mean I'll need to make orders monthly, rather than bi-weekly, to support cost of the drive.)

On the flipside, this week we had all of the stumps removed from the property, and we're talking about erecting (heh) a nice 14' x 24' workshop. So, I've got that going for me, which is nice.

:lol

You could always pop over the boarder ;)

I could! It sounds like it may be a bit more of a trek, though.

Glad to hear it is coming together.
I wish you the best of luck!!!!!!!!
I have not been as excited for a project as I am to tackle this bartop.
This will truly be a custom project and I can not wait to pick up my unit from you.
Let me know when it's ready and I'll be at your door cash in hand (and ready to start a build thread!).

Thanks Mike. It's coming together, slowly but surely.

No worries. I received an e-mail from the CNC shop last night, asking for some *ahem* clarification on what my outstanding/final orders were, and an apology as they have been swamped for the past few weeks - and then, I received the final confirmation of the cut list just before midnight, so that's good news!

As soon as everything is here, you'll be the first to know. (The buttons haven't come in as yet, but the cabinet just needs that recut side.)

I have been following this thread for some time with interest... kinda waiting for you to do a 2 player actually lol.

I have a cousin with a full wood / cabinet shop that owns a large deck CNC that has done flatpack work previously.  He is at 400 and 407 - it might be worth your time to have a conversation with him? I mentioned this thread to Ted - he said he would be interested in speaking with you. I am trying to figure out how to pm you this information - let me know if you are interested. No guarantees, but might work out for you somehow?
Its great to see this being done locally.

Sorry for not getting back to you last night, but you were probably stuck in the same storm we were... I checked, and all your parts are here. I just need to find the time to cut the t-molding slot into the new side. Hopefully, I'll be able to get to that today. If I can finish it up, it'll be ready for you any time!

I think Super Turbo Turkey Puncher is silently weeping in the corner.

That made me sad. You cut me to the bone, my friend...

:(

...and when I work so hard to bring you guys stuff like this:

This one is a bit larger, supporting a 27" LCD monitor.

Watching this thread like a hawk and once you're back up and running I want one of these.
I'd build it myself but I want the quality which I can't produce.
Here's hoping it's not too long Rick!  8)

You're right. In fact, I've been seriously considering dismantling her, in favour of a redesign once I have access to the new CNC shop.

 :o

Yes, that's right - I said it. If my new CNC shop has the appropriate tooling, I may just disassemble what I've completed in favour of a more 'forgiving' medium - even if it's only just partially. I know the sides are presently in a state where they would need a significant amount of Bondo - and they would definitely benefit from a more 'professional finish'...

But it's still up in the air. Right now, she is - in fact - silently weeping in the corner of my workshop. So, thanks for that.

You bastard.

I think the US is a very different climate when it comes to the arcade/coin-op hobby.
You see it on shows like American Pickers when they goto talk to guys who were in the business for years.
Or even on Pawn Stars guys coming in to pawn old cocktail machines.
Just seems the scene is larger.

I'm in Ajax just east of Toronto. Toronto being known of the "Mega City." And even in the Mega City we had one place that did coin-op auctions. Prices USED to be great, then they went up. When you are the only show in town why not right ? Now they only run the auctions online and prices are WAY UP.

So to have someone like Rick who sells a great product at a great price may seem like something that is "meh" or readily available, but here it is not the case.

These cabinets are great and the guy behind them is a stand up dude !

This seems to be true, and it's unfortunate. I'm subscribed to a number of online YouTube guys - John's Arcade, Arcade Impossible, etc. - and they seem to have a large following down in the U.S.  They go to local arcades, visit friends who have home arcades, visit conventions and trades. You just don't see that up here in Canada.

I'm in Ajax just east of Toronto. Toronto being known of the "Mega City." And even in the Mega City we had one place that did coin-op auctions. Prices USED to be great, then they went up. I've lurked a few online auctions, and it seems like they're all just money-sinks. Everything seems overpriced, and overvalued. It's like the comic-book scene that I got out of a few years ago - too many people have the same item, think it's "the only one left in existence" and try and charge way too much. It's ridiculous.

So to have someone like Rick who sells a great product at a great price may seem like something that is "meh" or readily available, but here it is not the case. These cabinets are great and the guy behind them is a stand up dude!

I appreciate the kind words, sir. Thanks so much!

I am trying to solidify my offering right now, and think I need to take a short break from manufacturing - EXTREMELY SHORT (like, two weeks) - and focus on infrastructure. That means three things need attention: the website, the products and the pricing. What I want to bring back is a better service, overall.

The move from my existing CNC shop hit me hard. My latest orders (3 cocktails and 5 bartops) took between 30 and 60 days to fulfill, due to issues with production, and that's not acceptable to me. I want to continue to give a professional product at a great price. That's going to happen, and that's going to happen shortly. (Stay tuned!)

Thanks again, Mike. I can't wait to see your build progress!

I can only imagine that move was a major set back in many ways.
But I will tell everyone, WAITING for a QUALITY & LOCAL product is worth it.
In the end us as consumers will win, I'd hate to guess what it would cost to get a bartop kit from the US (when I pay $20 for a marquee/$25 for some art work in a tube).

Talking back about the local coin-op scene for a second.
When I bought my house (7 years ago) I looked all over the net for a cabinet, later finding out about the auction. It was dominated by guys that had a few years on me. They loved the PAC-MAN's, Galaga, etc..........the tru classics. Me, slightly younger it was all about Street Fighter. The crowd at the auction wasn't really into that, I could have got (and did get a Marvel vs Capcom) in a Dynamo cabinet for $75 !!! But then as it grew, the auction house started to use social media and the online resources like Kijiji + Craigslist. The auctions grew as did the prices.

I'm just happy that I was able to build my collection prior to this. I have my Nintendo line up (4 machines), 2 bartops (1 PC/1 48-in-1 Jamma) and My Bad Dudes & Final Fight. I dont want (or need) anything else.

I'll be keeping my project/build thread updated as I make any progress. Cost break down, progress made, pics, etc. I'm excited to get some free time and make some progress this weekend. If I need help getting it together I'll be sure to email you Rick!
