Troubleshooter 2 - Model 2 with frontend problems-
« on: November 15, 2013, 05:07:47 am »
Hello. Troubleshooter 2 is a output hack for use 2 lightguns in model 2 emu: http://dragonking.arcadecontrols.com/static.php?page=aboutTS2
Could be used a frontend with Troubleshooter 2 in model 2 emu?
I have configurated Troubleshooter 2 and works fine with model 2 emu, but when i launch the roms in mala frontend, lightguns (aimtrak) doesn't respond...
I was talking with programmer and he said me, that probably happening is mala has taken control of all joysticks causing interference..
What do you think about it?
Thanks.

You may be missing the point of Troubleshooter 2.
Troubleshoot 2 (as well as the original) were made for games and emulators where two lightguns are not supported: ie: M2 & PC arcade ports. MAME already supports dual lightguns natively.

For dual AimTrak lightguns to work in MAME you do not need Troubleshooter. Just configure your lightguns appropriately with your mame.ini file an then within the MAME control menu as outlined in the AIMTrak manual.

Code: [Select]

My apologies mitsurugi. Indeed you did say that the problem was with Model 2 emu not MAME. I got confused when you mentioned Mala. I read too quickly and assumed you also meant MAME. My bad.

....now having read more carefully (hopefully), I believe I understand what you are asking: Troubleshooter 2 works with M2 except when it is launched via Mala. I can't say I know why that's happening as I'm not using Troubleshooter 2 myself (yet). You might want to check to make sure that there isn't a conflict between Mala's controls and the Aimtraks in the Mala configuration panel?

How can i know if there's a conflict between mala controls and aimtracks?
aimtracks are detected in s.o. like mouse and the buttons like joystick button. My arcade control panel is jamma and i use a jpac.
Thanks for reply me.

I was testing more and sometimes player 1 gun, starts to work fine, but player 2 gun never works. Some ideas?
Thanks.

Do both of your Aimtraks work in MAME when the games are launched via Mala? Do PC games work with both guns via Mala? If not the problem may not be with Troubleshooter 2.  Work out the problems with the guns and Mala first.

I'm not familiar with how Troubleshooter 2 works exactly, but the whole point is to get that second gun to work. Have you checked out Howard Casto's website or contacted him for help (again)? I suggest you re-read the entire Troubleshooter 2 original thread for clues as to what you might be missing then try and give more info in your thread post or when you talk to Howard again.

Thanks for your reply. Both aimtracks works fine in mala with mame, supermodel emu, and lighting pc games (house of the dead 2 and 3).
For pc games i use The Troubleshooter: http://thetroubleshooter.home.mindspring.com/
who is a diferent aplication than howard castro's Troubleshooter 2.
The only problem is when i try to use model 2 emu in mala with 2 aimtraks using  Troubleshooter 2. If i use it without mala frontend, works fine.
I have contacted with castro and he said me: -what's probably happening is mala has taken control of all joysticks causing interference, but that's just a guess.

I'm not sure how you would fix that.  Have you tried another FE?-

So it's supposed and problem between mala and Troubleshooter 2.....
