Force Mala to use controls.ini data?
« on: August 01, 2013, 06:40:49 pm »
I attempting to use definable buttons and controller images for my Mala layout.  It appears that when I do this, Mala grabs the data from the mame.xml file and not the controls.ini file.

Thus, for a game like centipede, I need to name the image "joy8way & trackball" instead of just "trackball" in order for the controller image to show up properly in my layout.

Is there any way to have Mala default to using the controls info from the controls.ini file, before it looks at the mame.xml file?  Or am I going to need to edit my mame.xml file for this to work.

Thanks.

Make sure your controls.ini is defined in mala config (mame tab/additional tab). Refresh you main gamelist not your custom lists just the mala main list. Next in mala config/game lists tab/ tick the box that says "update game metadata in all lists". Your custom gamelists should now show the info from controls.ini. For certain things you may need to edit the controls file yourself.

good day.
