Yeah any Sony Trinitron will be spot of for arcade use. The KV-21X5U uses the FE-1 chassis which is regarded as one of the best only 2nd to AE series of chassis

good to know. just got it home and the screen is fantastic

OK, firstly the colours on this TV are excellent, I've spent the last couple of years seeing bad colour bleeding and dominant greens but got used to it, always assumed it was my shoddy home made cable, but now I see it was the TV.
I set vmmaker to create some x256 modelines aiming for 54khz refresh to use with winuae. the reason for this modeline is the overscan on x256 is perfect for countering the large black borders on PAL amiga games, the reason for 54khz is because at 50hz the modeline has it's own black borders adding to the already infuriating ones in the amiga games, but at 54khz it retains the vertical overscan and the slioght increase in speed is hardly noticeable, preferable in fact.

Anyway, to get to the point; the 54khz x256 modelines constantly scroll down the screen, but the x256 modes I kept at 58khz don't.
Any help with this is most appreciated, I'm using VMMAKER 1.3c beta and arcade_osd 1.2 (1.3 won't display any resolution lower than 60hz)

Thanks!

Hi wilch,

Arcade_OSD 1.3 should show the same list of resolutions as 1.2, provided you "unlock unsupported modes" from the first menu. It seems like you're testing this with a PC monitor attached to the main output, is that right? If that's the case, drag and drop the app window into the TV desktop and select "Attach OSD to current monitor".

Verticall rolling at a particular refresh means the vertical hold needs manual adjustment, either from the service menu or the chassis potentiometers, depending on the TV.

thanks calamity, yeah i have an lcd monitor but always set the tv as primary when using arcade_osd. i cant find any option to enable unsupported modes or to attach current monitor. i only see the list of 60hz modes and instructions for selecting and editing...

i'll have a look in the service menu for a v-hold, hopefully it will remember the setting so i won't have to keep changing it

regards

ok i downloaded the latest versions and they work as intended.
i can't find any info on vertical-hold for my tv. i don't feel brave enough to open the back of the chassis so i'll just play around with the modes that work for now

Hello Lettuce,

Do you know if any revision of FE chassis will perform equally well? For example FE-1A, FE-2 etc.

Thank you, I'm currently looking for a sony CRT...
