ArcadeVGA 3000 Headaches
« on: May 02, 2013, 09:13:12 pm »
Hey Everyone,

I purchased an ArcadeVGA 3000 recently, hoping to eventually use in a new cabinet. However, this card has been a real challenge to get working, and I need your advice.

System Specs:
Windows XP x64
4 GB RAM
Core 2 Quad Processor
ASUS A5Q Motherboard
Ultimarc AVGA 3000 PCIe (DVI port on bottom, blue heat sink)
Sony Trinitron 32-inch with TC1600 Component Transcoder attached to VGA output
GroovyUME 148u3

Current issues include:
1. Card arrived without DVD. I found the drivers on the Ultimarc website by searching for Ultimarc and ArcadeVGA Drivers.
2. Drivers for Win XP 64 seem to be mismatched. If I install the drivers (xp64a) for "DVI on bottom", the card isn't recognized by the driver installation. So I install the drivers (xp64) with "DVI on top" manually which seems to work. Strangely enough, when I installed this card under Windows 7, the correct drivers "DVI on bottom" did work. Maybe there is an issue with the Win XP 64 drivers?
3. Drivers install with "Use Alternate DVI Timing" enabled by default, so my Apple Cinema LCD flickers uncontrollably, requiring me to attach another LCD or CRT to disable this setting in Catalyst Control Center.
4. I followed every instruction on the Ultimarc site for installation, but oddly there is a lack of detailed instructions about which monitor to attach when. For example, I install the drivers using the LCD connected to DVI, but at what point should I see a display on the VGA port?
5. Why is there no mention of enabling the VGA output? Is this necessary? Do I enable in Windows Display Settings or CCC? What screen size, freq, etc?
6. After driver installation, I reboot with only the VGA connected (going to TC1600 and TV) but the display is scrambled at 640x480 60 hz. I thought the VGA output was 15 KHz?

This card is driving me insane. I was under the impression this was the "easy" solution. Maybe it is when connected to an actual arcade monitor, but wouldn't the TC1600 and Trinitron work the same, as is the case with my HD 4670 using the CRT_Emu drivers?

Can anyone explain what they did to make this configuration work, hopefully with a similar setup?

Thank you!

I'm having very similar issues as well. I was running XP 64, and everything was fine. Then, it wouldn't display anything at boot. Switched to Win7 x64, and same thing AFTER I install the drivers. Everything works fine during boot or with generic drivers, but once I install the actual drivers, stuff either scrambles or nothing comes up. I'm using a breakout cable and a 25" K7000.

It is the worst product I've come across. Product just ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---!

I myself have the VGA ARCADE 3000.
No matter what operating system you install it. Always be a problem.

Same for the monitor I have an arcade monitor, and monitor professional video editors.

Always full of problems like problem geometrically. DRIVER does not work, and a lot of problems.

I bought alot of parts to my arcade machines from andy@ultimarc.com. And I'm really pleased

But ARCADE VGA 3000 it's just a product with full of bugs :badmood:
