Can't use Mouse for lightgun/trackball+map mousebuttons(GroovyMAME 0.148u2)

I've got a Trackball (ps2->USB) to play racing games like super hang-on and Lightgun games like Alien3 the gun.
No problem when using MameUI64. No problems when using the mouse with winxp64.

Installed Groovymame, by placing the .exe file in the mamefolder an renamed the file to MameUI64.exe.
When I start up a game, I can use the mouse in the config menu (tab), I see the yellow bar move up and down when I move the trackball.
But when I want to map a button to the mouse buttons or trackball I can't......

I've googled forums to find a answer, but I really have no clue...
