Donkey Kong Red - Restoration
« on: April 19, 2013, 02:59:26 pm »
I picked up a Donkey Kong Red. I'll post pictures up shortly. It's in pretty rough shape. My question is this...

What is the real difference between a blue and a red cab if you end up restoring it? If I restore this red cabinet and apply new red vinyl to the sides, what is the difference between that and a blue cabinet with new red vinyl applied? I would personally know that the red cabinet is originally a red cabinet and the name plaque would match the numbering but other than that, it seems like it would devalue the machine to restore it.

Just a thought.

The reds were originally radar scope, other than that, dont know of any difference.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Most of the reds (not all) had 5 speaker slots vs. the more common 7 slots on the blue ones. And some of the coin doors only had 1 coin mech. Not fond of the vinyl wraps on a restore though (just my opinion).

good day.

This one is pretty beat up. I wouldn't normally want to restore it but it's a bit rough. I will take pictures of the machine prior to the restore to put inside the cabinet for the next owner. I personally don't like the gameplay on the 4-board set. It's interesting to see the difference in difficulty and the order of the levels is different.
