Mala and Final Burn Alpha?!
« on: April 08, 2013, 02:09:39 pm »
Hello,

I have Final Burn Alpha for only 4 games (games I can't get to work on my MAME) SFIII, Jojo's Adventure, MvC and SNK vs Capcom.  My main issue is that Mala only displays the rom shorthand name in FBA as oppossed to the full title like it does with MAME.  I tried making a list with Romlister for the FBA games but the list I created only shows up under MAME under the Game lists tab in Mala, so I can't use that to edit the name.  Can anyone give me any advice on how to get these four game's titles listed on this frontend without MAME?  Thanks in advance.

You might try using the mlgconverter.exe in this thread:

to convert the gamelist to a text file, change the name, and convert it back.

I only ever used it once to see what information the mlg file contained, so I don't know if it will work or not, but it's a possibility.

Those games should work in MAME.

I am not sure what that would do.  The name is correct in the mlg file that I made with romlister.  The problem is that the game list only shows up under mame when I go to game list and not the FBA emulator section and I don't know how to make a game list that I can edit outside of Mame for FBA.

I don't know how to make a game list that I can edit outside of Mame for FBA.

Don't have mala handy, but IIRC, the other gamelists are allgames.mlg1 or allgames.1mlg or something like that, with each number being a different emulator.  You could convert one of those with mlgconverter.exe

There's also the option of using the multiple emulators in one list workaround stickied at the top of this forum.
If done that way, it would show up in your MAME list and pull the info from mame.xml, but would launch in FBA.
You'll need to have a good understanding of batch files and how to launch the game via command line though.
