SF3 - How do you get this to work?
« on: April 03, 2013, 12:30:17 pm »
I have the CHD file and rom files but it still says it is missing the CHDs.  Curious what files you guys are using...like the names.  I have about 10 different rom fils and a CHD folder about 77MB big.  Curous if I am on the right path.  I AM NOT ASKING  WHERE TO GET THESE FILES.

Just looking for examples to make sure I have things named and in place.  I was able to get Killer IOnstinct 1 and 2 to work fine but they seemed more straight forward.
Thanks,
Rich

The format used for the CHDs changed recently.
Make sure the version number of the CHD & ROM match the version number of MAME you are running (i.e. v148).

Also the CHD should be inside a folder with the same name as the CHD..and that should be in your ROM folder.

DLed another set of CHDs and the site shows it works with [sfiii] Street Fighter III: New Generation (USA, 970204), which I have.  I have the sfiii.zip in the roms folder.  I have a folder called sfiii inside of the roms folder, I have the chd named as default sf3000.chd(I tried renaming this to sfiii as well and it did not change anything.)  My guess is it might not be for my version of mame but how do I check that?  ROMCENTER?

I tried all ways and none worked.  CHD named as rom and folder.

Back at work and testing again with ROMcenter.  If I run the rom sfiii it says "Missing file s3000.chd"

I have this file in two locations on my hdd.  In the roms folder alongside the sfiii.zip(Which I heard after a certain version you did not need to create a folder.) and in roms\s3000 - both setups still trigger the error.  any ideas?

\roms\sfiii.zip    ----> zip file contains only sfiii_usa.29f400.u2
\roms\sfiii\cap-sf3-3.chd ----> folder contains chd
