« on: March 19, 2013, 11:53:34 pm »
Hi guys,

Is it possible to get a vinyl side art laminated with something like 1/16 thick Formica? Souldraw can't do that I asked them.

So you're wanting to get Formica laminate with printed vinyl already applied?

Seems like you'd have problems lining up the art and stretching/bubbling of the vinyl due to the laminate being rolled up for shipping.

When people talk about laminated side art, they are talking about a very thin layer of clear polycarbonate over the vinyl to protect the printing.

Ok thx for the precision Pl1. So, is the laminated vinyl enough resistant. Do you glue it directly on wood? What's the difference with the Starcade vinyl laminated foil?

So, is the laminated vinyl enough resistant.
I've heard many great reviews of the Game on Grafix CPO lamination.
("BYOAC" code gives you 10% off according to a recent post.)

For other printers, you may want to search for reviews.

Do you glue it directly on wood?
You need to properly prepare/clean any surface before applying vinyl.

For wood, that means either applying Formica/laminate like you mentioned earlier or painting and letting it completely cure.

Have you reviewed the whole Side Art Install 101 thread?

Tons of great info from a true professional, Rikitiki from This Old Game.   :notworthy:

What's the difference with the Starcade vinyl laminated foil?
Sorry, no idea.   :dunno
