<Solved> Wells Gardner 27" monitor issue
« on: February 19, 2013, 05:34:59 pm »
Hello all,

Background information:

I am converting a Golden Tee 2004 Cabinet into a MAME unit.
It has a Wells Gardner 27” monitor I believe to be a medium resolution unit.
Model # WGM2775-U0TS50K 054A7502-001 with a serial # WG 1819875.

My MAME unit is running Windows XP 32 bit with a ATI HD4650 video card. I am running Calamity's modified ATI Drivers 9.3 and have also tried Soft15khz.

I am under the assumption that this diagram below is correct for my unit and the connector P200 is keyed as follows: 10 – Red, 9 – Green, 8 – Blue, 7 – Gnd, 6 - ± Vertical Sync, 5 - ± Horz/Comp Sync, 4 – Key, 3 – Gnd, 2 - ± Vertical Sync, 1 - ± Horz/Comp Sync.

Problem:

If I plug in the original Golden Tee equipment the monitor works perfectly. When I plug in my MAME unit I can’t get this monitor to display a proper image. It displays multiple desktop images overlapped horizontally with black bars displayed as well.

Questions:
1.   Can this monitor display 640x480 (Windows Desktop)
2.   Does it matter which set of horz/vert sync pins I use.
3.   Should I be using Comp Sync.
4.   Should my VGA breakout cable only have 6 wires (Red, Green, Blue, Ground, H Sync, V Sync).
5.   Do I have to do anything to my video card other then install Calamity's drivers.

I am really banging my head against the wall here and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Mid res is ~512x384 progressive.  It will not be able to display 640x480 either progressive or interlaced.  You could potentially do 1024x768 interlaced, but it will probably be quite blurry as the tube is not designed to resolve images with resolution that high.

Thank You MonMotha, 512x384 worked with a little over scan so I tried 490x384 which worked perfectly.
