TOPIC CLOSED 1-20-2013 (Well.. for the most part, since I don't know how to lock a thread)
Going to work on a conversion for the cabinet/CP instead...  Got the blessings from the wife.. thats all I need. :D

-------

We are going to fix up our basement in our new house and I am considering getting rid of this cabinet I use for Mame and other emus, but want to go to a specific cabinet.. either TMNT/NBAJam cab or a Dragon's Lair cab...  Where do I start?   lol
http://webpages.charter.net/cablehaven/ (click on the mame logo at the bottom of the left pane)

Anyone have hints on how to go about finding something specific like this?
I'm looking for dead machines to convert to Mame cabs.. so I dont want to pay $1600 or more for a working game.

If anyone in the area is interested or can shoot me some advice on how to accomplish this.. I would love to hear from you here or you can email me at dgrams2000 @   charter.net  (I put spaces in the email address... to avoid spammage..  just put the parts together  if you want to use it.)

I wouldn't bother. The distance from CP to cab isn't a lot different, and it's easier to move up and down places.

Does the Konomi cab has a detachable control panel box?  That is what I would think would make it hard to move.  I do have a turning stairwell going into the basement.  Dragons Lair cab should make it down.   The cab I have sticks out 70" from back of the cabinet to the front of the Joypanel.  That is before having the people stand there also, which takes up more space.   TMNT is 36" from front to back.  So I would be saving 50% by changing cabs.. and that would make the wife very happy as well.. ;)

I was just browsing around and noticed some of the newer golf games that had the LCD TV mounted on it... I wonder if I could just do that with my control panel. example:

Then I could keep my control panel that I love, but lose about 28" in depth... Then it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of a TMNT cabinet.

Might have to move this to the discussion area vs. sales/trade soon.. ;)

Then my three thoughts are:
1) How does mame handle on a VGA connection on a Flat Screen TV..? do the screen ratios get all whacked out?
2) Is there any reason anyone would want the back half of the cabinet.. or will I be junking it and the TV?
3) I'd have to start looking for brackets to mount the tv on, and how to attach it to my CP
