Hey, while the Wii game of Wreck-It Ralph may not contain the Fix-It Felix, Jr. arcade game, I saw it does use graphics from the first scene of the attract mode story for selecting it on the Wii menu, if you were looking for another source.  :)  Victory screens from the game also show the whole body of the old lady who holds a pie out to the side in some promotional views of Niceland but doesn't seem to fit into the style of the finished game and movie, like she's some kind of Easter egg throwback to an earlier design.  Similarly, the Be a Hero Sweepstakes homepage, the banner on 8-Bit Lane that unlocks a smartphone port of the Flash version of Fix-It Felix when viewed through BlippAR, and the intro to the old Wreck-It Ralph homepage (Skip to 2m25s) all show what look like flowers planted around the penthouse balcony, but these flowers don't exist in the game or the movie.  I guess, like the lampposts, they would have gotten in the way.  Now I wish someone had saved that "Wreck the Trailer" game for its extra graphics of Ralph's standing punch and alternative walk cycle.

Birds from higher floors (level 3 and beyond) begin to scroll across the screen right after the current floor is finished and the transition to the next starts.
I saw that. It appears the ducks will get a head start on their flight routine based on how long Ralph has to shuffle back to the center, whereas when you get killed by a duck, both ducks dutifully blink back to their start positions while Ralph stays where he is.

Players swap out only when the previous player has died, and of course progress made on a level is saved for when the player resumes next.
I suppose the kill screen would cheat the other player out of the rest of the game, wouldn't it?

I wonder just how thoroughly the state of the game is saved when transferring back between players.  If it doesn't include how many times Ralph can break another window, then maybe 2-player death could be used for additional point-pressing!  8)

One minor thing I forgot to point out, on the Name Entry screen, you can confirm a character by using either the JUMP or FIX button. The beta currently only allows you to confirm using the JUMP button.

I remember the crane part being very pixelated, as if they just copy and pasted a segment over and over again.  As as result, it looked very blocky compared to all the other sprites in game.  I'll see if I can find some images for ya. :)

I posted this picture way back. Here is a picture of the crane arm,
It has red maybe orange? pixels in it.

Also here is the dump sign.

Hope these help.

Slydsho, It looks like you are doing an amazing job!  Great work.   :applaud:

Here are a couple of screen captures from the Blu-ray
They seem Arcade accurate
I will put a folder in the dropbox with screen captures from this segment.

No joystick support at the moment. What kind of joystick/interface are you using?

For now you can use something like joy2ky.

Last beta around feb I was able to use a pc joystick. its compatible with pc and ps3.

When you put back in support for the last joystick you used I should be just fine. (hopefully)

I'm unsure of the button layout to use joytokey i know the directionals but I dont know what the hammer and jump buttons are.

It will go back in, but I had to remove it when I redid the whole control mechanism. Fix is left ctrl, jump is left alt, coin is 5, 1 is one player start (just like mame)

I use a joystick encoder with MAME, so I'm hoping to see joystick support as well.

For the parts of the movie that match the real game, disneyscreencaps.com has HD screenshots taken a few times per second for the whole movie that you can use for reference.  So for fast animations, it's unlikely they'll have grabbed the frame you need, but for large objects, you can see the pixels pretty well.

One more question that's occurred to me is about the doors on the first screen of each level.  In the online Flash game, I have found that neither the entrance doors nor the doors to the lower balcony above can ever be re-broken during game-play no matter how high a stage number I reach, and they always require only one use of the fix button no matter how many random gashes are in them, but I have no clue if this is true of the other versions.  (In the "bonus level" at the end of the movie, so much of the door is destroyed that fixing it is worth 500 points despite not being the final fix!)  That could make the doors worthy of being the one space you leave broken while you wait for Ralph to break additional windows for extra points per level.  (Is Niceland the one place where the broken windows fallacy isn't?)

I see the arcade game has gone on tour in other countries, though never translated to my knowledge.

Also, how on earth did someone get 120501 for a score on the machine in the movie?  ::)

Heh, the same way the DVD player got scores ending in 12 or 49, I suppose.  Maybe Fix-It Felix, Jr. has a "Cheap Shot" penalty of -99 like Super Smash Bros...?

Actually, I used to play the Amiga port of Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk, which had a scoreboard that normally increased by 300 points, 500 points, 1000 and the like; but on some play-throughs, giving the gold to the ferryman would give me an extra 1 point for no apparent reason, and so I would spend the rest of the game with a 1 in the ones digit that I never knew how I had earned.  I never did figure out what caused that, or if I was running a bad copy of the game or something.

I played around with your crane sprite a bit and fixed the headlight, roof, treads, and door shape a bit. I haven't quite gotten on the right track just yet with the arm of the crane, though. I left in your images and the screen cap for reference.

Just for fun, I found one more picture with the graphics from Wreck-It Ralph's forest home: This Facebook photo.  Hmm, has Ralph ever used that sprite in any actual animation?

Coming up (in the next couple of days)

Is that from the original arcade game, or your clone of it?  This screen could give us a cleaner capture of the brick-piles.

This is from the clone...but it is very good that you cannot see the difference  ;D

Nice ! Can't wait to get started on the attract mode. I put some of the game sprites in the 'Crane and bulldozer sprites' folder. I think there is a similar walking sprite in there...

Finally finished the final version of the Gameplay Music Loop.  I totally understand how Sjaak feels when he turns off the song during testing.  It gets very annoying after a while. :lol

You can download it at the mistersinistar sound folder, as usual. :)

I tried my best to find the closest-sounding string sample for the melody.  I ended up using SPCTool to extract some string samples from the SNES game, Super Metroid, so they're real 8-bit 16000hz samples.  Hope you like the song :)

I'm gonna work on some more sound effects soon.

What's wrong with using the music tracks from the extended awards score that's floating around? Those are definitely the tracks from the movie version.

That's what I was originally gonna use, but Sjaak pointed out to me that the song in the game is slightly different.  The bass comes in later and the string section plays slightly different chords and resolves differently to better loop in-game.  Despite these differences, I still used the music from the leaked FYC score as a reference; for example, I sampled the movie track to recreate the arpeggio since the synth that's playing it uses a patch that's a bit more complicated to emulate.  I also used srarcade's recordings to make sure I was following exactly what's heard in the arcade version of the song.

The good thing is that the main loop is the only song from the soundtrack that's different in the arcade game.  All the attract mode, Felix Intro and Game Win music is exactly the same in the movie, albeit played through a crappy speaker.  :lol

Very nice! I'll make sure this is in the next version.

Yes, check out the readme.txt. It's (sort of) a crt emulation for lcd screens. At the moment, you get scanlines, curvature of the crt screen and a slight convergence problem with red. This will make your $300 lcd screen look like a $10 garage sale crt ::)

You can turn it off in game.ini and in future version it will be more configurable.
