Still sound problems with current Groovy with 64bit Linux?
« on: December 19, 2012, 02:53:58 pm »
I'm really not sure if I should report this here (the games with issues -thread talks about Windows..), but I'll give it a go anyway:

With the latest GroovyArcade 64bit I still experience crappy sound with for example Bomb Jack, Frogger, Mappy and Ikari Warriors. Tried with several different rom versions, result is the same. I wonder if that "sound is broken for 64bit Linux version" still applies?

Sound works prefectly for example with Outrun, Golden Axe, NBA jam and Burger time. Could someone please tell me if this is related to 64bit Linux version or my onboard audio (AD1983)? Haven't tested with SBLive yet.

Hi emuola,

This is an issue that I have to fix as soon as I can get a 64-bit install (my old one died) so I can compile on it. I'm waiting for the new live-cd to come, then I'll focus on this.

BTW, this does NOT happen for the 32-bit build, it points to some problem with data type sizes in the SDL sound code of MAME.

Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Ok, thanks for the info calamity :) I hope I could help in a way or another, but I'm really lousy at compiling stuff. I have several 64-bit laptops to test compiled binaries though ;) Would you happen to know when the next live-cd is going to come?

Btw, the latest Switchres is *awesome*  :notworthy: My cab is now ~complete, the only problems being the slight flicker in advmenu (games don't have that) and the aforementioned sound problems. Yesterday evening I just sat and watched MK2 "demo" for 15 minutes, because it looks sooo da*m great in the proper resolution

I really hope you hve a relaxing Christmas, because you've deserved it  :applaud: Is there any way to donate to this project?
